4 Mid-Prairie high school students will have the unique opportunity to actively participate in the construction process of a multi-million dollar project from its inception to the ribbon-cutting ceremony. This is made possible through a partnership with the school district and the City of Kalona.
Students will have the chance to work independently and alongside industry professionals that have been contracted by the city to build the new Community Center. “Students will be given the opportunity to work with professionals to enhance their knowledge of engineering, architecture, design, construction management, financing and community outreach,” Ryan Schlabaugh, Kalona City Administrator said.
“Having the ability to have students work closely with the professionals on a project that will be designed, built and completed within the school year is exciting and we welcome the opportunity to work with the students,” Schlabaugh added.
